The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released their annual data analysis of healthcare spending report at the end of the year which included some interesting findings:

  • Healthcare spending averaged $11,172 per person (spending wisely on healthcare can save a lot)
  • The personal healthcare spending growth rate was 4.1% (costs are continually rising)
  • Hospital spending increased 4.5% (these increases will be passed on to patients)
  • Private health insurance spending increased 5.8%  (again, these increases will be passed to consumers)

That includes anesthesiologist, surgeon, assistant, supplies, implants, pharmacy, and any durable medical equipment prescribed for post-surgical home use.
